Glassell Park Graffiti, Three

Here's the full view of a great wall across the street from a car wash.

Around the corner there's this - it looks like a background that will later have other stuff painted over part of it. It's great to catch it at this point in time.

In between the two images is this portrait, which is also unfinished.

Here's a close-up of part of the wall. Click them for bigger versions.

Another close-up. The dot effect makes the lines look like sution cups on tentacles.

LA River Graffiti Work, March 2009

The big crackdown on graffiti in the LA River has erased a lot of beautiful art, but also freed up a lot of new space. It's pointless and asinine for the city to spend money it doesn't have to blast off the paint - or paint over it.

Above: MORS.

In any case, I found some interesting stuff going south from Atwater Village by bike down to the point where the Arroyo empties into the River.

The Arroyo was the site of the huge, legal, city-sanctioned Meeting of Styles in 2007. All that work has been obliterated, leaving barren ugly concrete where there used to be images of our city, riverscapes, surreal pieces, and massive works by LA art legends, like Chas Bojorquez, Mr.Cartoon and others. Above, a few from the start of the ride. Many more coming.

L.A. River Near Main St.

Not the best photos - or writing - to be seen along the L.A. River, but it's a sampling of the variety of graffiti there. These were shot near Main Street, alongside the train tracks.

Sunset in Hollywood

Shot July 19, 2007: On the side of the closed down Old Spaghetti Factory on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood. There tags were only up for a couple of days before being diligently painted over.

The building is still derelict and empty.

Club Bahia

A long-time fixture on Sunset Blvd between Echo Park and downtown, Club Bahia recently got a fresh batch of graffiti art.

Bit of a slam against the graffiti writers who travel the globe and show in galleries.
